With 29 appellations in the Anjou and Saumur regions
alone, the extensive vineyards produce an astonishing variety of wines. The area produces red, white, rose, sparkling, dry,
medium and sweet wines, including the famous sweet Layon, the dry white
sparkling Saumur brut and the easy drinking Anjou rouge (the red wines are
usually chilled and not served at room temperature!) With such a diversity of
wines on offer everyone will find some wines to please their palate. Included in your holiday are two wine tasting talks
followed by dinner in the manor house. On the evening of your arrival Simon and Karin will
host a wine tasting four-course dinner with coffee and liqueurs. Guests will
enjoy a different wine with each course reflecting the quality and variety of
the local wines. Wines will be carefully selected to match the freshly
prepared food. A second wine tasting with a talk and dinner, as
before, midway through your visit is included. On this occasion a local wine
expert will host the talk and the tasting of several fine wines. The dinners will be informal affairs for guests to
interact, relax and savour good food and wine in a convivial setting. In typical French style, the dinners will
be prepared with the very best of local seasonal produce. Further dinners at Le Manoir
can be arranged at the request of guests. However guests have a good choice
of restaurants to visit as recommended in your wine tours. |
